About
“A play is a poem standing up.”—Federico García Lorca
This blog is my little writing corner, a place to help me figure out how the stuff I witness, engage in, and feel every day can be channeled through a theatrical filter. I think playwrights are multiple-personality-disorder types who have found a way to make it work for them. So I’ve enlisted my own little cast of characters in my campaign to get the poetry of everyday life to stand up.
For more structured musings on the subject of theatre, I maintain a web site: www.standingpoem.com.
Aside from a passion for theatre, I am nourished by practicing Buddhist meditation (vipassana, more or less), working in graphic design, trying to concoct the perfect cornmeal crust pizza, and engaging in a never-ending push & pull with various drag persona who want to get out a lot more often than I let them these days.
When I was in the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, back when the group started, I was Sister Mary Media. I still think that the Sisters are the fiercest queens the world has seen, this side of the hejira in India.
Doubtless, more shall be revealed.

Hey Hal:
You are the best friend a tormented drama queen ever had or could hope for!
